PLUGIN INFORMATION

What the plugin does

Plugin capabilities

  • Embeds Google Maps into post content or WordPress templates via a shortcode (`[codepeople-post-map]`) and can also insert maps as sidebar widgets.
  • Renders geolocation markers for posts/pages, with marker placement defined by address or latitude/longitude, and supports showing/hiding Google Maps while still associating geolocation (e.g., marker-only vs map display).
  • Supports displaying infowindows for markers, including an option to have an infowindow open by default and an option to disable infowindows entirely (`show_window`, `show_default`).
  • Generates map points dynamically from geolocation metadata in uploaded images (Exif GPS) and can also generate points from geolocation information included on posts via the WordPress App.
  • Provides marker clustering to handle large volumes of markers (`markerclusterer`) and supports customizing marker appearance and info bubble content (including default-open bubbles).
  • Supports filtering which posts/points are shown on a map using shortcode attributes for categories, tags, taxonomies, post types, and explicit inclusion/exclusion lists (e.g., `cat`, `tag`, `taxonomy`, `post_type`, `excludecat`, `excludepost`, `excludetag`).
  • Allows map configuration for rendering behavior such as zoom (static or dynamic to fit all points), map type (ROADMAP/SATELLITE/TERRAIN/HYBRID), language, controls, and optional route drawing between points (route/travel mode).

TRANSLATION BOUNDARY

CodePeople Post Map for Google Maps capabilities and translatable content are documented separately.
