PLUGIN INFORMATION
What the plugin does
Plugin capabilities
- Administrator-only access: AMWScan restricts access to its admin workspace to users with the `manage_options` capability.
- Upload protection (default enabled): scans media and plugin/theme ZIP packages before WordPress accepts them; detected malicious files and uploads that cannot be scanned completely are blocked, and their reports are retained for review.
- Configurable scan policy and ZIP scope: administrators can disable upload protection under Antimalware > Settings > Scan policy; ZIP inspection requires the PHP ZIP extension, and bounded ZIP content scanning can be configured under Antimalware > Settings > Scope and limits (oversized archives are reported as incomplete coverage).
- On-demand and scheduled scanning with resumable background scans: supports manual scans or precisely scheduled background scans, shows live progress/rate/ETA, and can resume interrupted scans instead of restarting.
- Report-only scanning by default with explicit remediation actions: scans do not change files unless a remediation action is chosen; file-changing actions require explicit confirmation, and the plugin can quarantine and permanently delete files after confirmation (it cannot restore them).
- Security finding reporting and alerting: organizes findings into malware detections and other security findings (integrity/vulnerability/reputation), and can send email alerts to the WordPress administrator via `wp_mail` when completed scans contain unresolved security findings (up to 20 optional recipients).
- Engine definitions update behavior and caching: scans check a Maltrail release digest and download definitions only when changed; if an update fails, the last verified cache is kept, and there is an option to use cached Maltrail definitions without updating under Antimalware > Settings > Engine and storage.
- FTP/FTPS read-only remote scanning support: when the PHP FTP extension is enabled, administrators can scan a credential-free `ftps://host/path` URL (with `AMWSCAN_FTP_PASSWORD` provided via the WordPress PHP process environment when needed); remote scans are read-only and passwords are not stored in WordPress.
