PLUGIN INFORMATION
What the plugin does
Plugin capabilities
- Provides a `[browser-shot]` shortcode to automate taking website screenshots.
- Uses WordPress.com/Automattic “mShots” functionality to generate screenshots of provided URLs.
- Screenshot images are stored on the wordpress.com servers (not saved to the user’s own website) and are cached for roughly 24 hours before being generated again.
- Supports screenshot rendering options via shortcode parameters including `width`, `height`, `alt` (alt text), `link` (destination URL), `target` (e.g., `_blank`), `class`/`image_class` (CSS classes), `display_link` (show/hide link), and `post_links` (link to the permalink of the post the screenshot is on).
- Adds an icon to the TinyMCE editor to help create the shortcode.
- Exposes a PHP method `BrowserShots::get_shot(url, width, height)` for theme/code usage to output screenshot image URLs (requires the plugin to be installed and activated).
- Multisite-compatible: can be enabled network-wide (Network Activate) or per-site to make the shortcode available.
TRANSLATION BOUNDARY
Browser Screenshots capabilities and translatable content are documented separately.
Official documentation describes the plugin functionality, but does not currently identify specific text shown to visitors that can be translated.
A feature is not considered translatable unless it includes text that users can read.
