- Embeds directories via shortcodes, including a directory shortcode of the form `[namedirectory dir=1]` (where `dir` is an internal directory ID).
- Provides per-directory display configuration options such as showing/hiding title, description, suggestion form, submitter name, search function, index-letter behavior, newest entries, and number of columns.
- Supports integrated search within a directory (searching names/titles and descriptions) and can optionally include directory-matching pages in WordPress’s default search results via a plugin General Settings option.
- Supports CSV import and export for directories (since v1.7 for import; since v1.8 for export), including adding names/descriptions/submitter entries with the first CSV row treated as headers.
- Allows HTML in the name description (with a caution to use valid HTML).
- Registers a capability named `manage_name_directory` to allow non-site-admin users to access the plugin admin menu when used with the Members plugin (capability-based access).
