CLEAN FILENAMES

Clean Filenames compatibility with REEID Translate

Clean Filenames compatibility with REEID Translate is being reviewed using official plugin documentation. Sanitizes uploaded filenames by removing/replacing special and international characters to improve compatibility with servers/services lacking locale support (e.g., “España.png” → “Espana.png”, “prüfen” → “prufen”). PLUGIN INFORMATION

What the plugin does

Plugin capabilities

  • Sanitizes uploaded filenames by removing/replacing special and international characters to improve compatibility with servers/services lacking locale support (e.g., “España.png” → “Espana.png”, “prüfen” → “prufen”).
  • Replaces plus signs (“+”) in filenames with dashes (“-”).
  • Replaces dot characters (“.”) occurring before the final file extension separator with dashes (“A.nice.picture.png” → “A-nice-picture.png”).
  • After character replacement, enforces an allowed character set in the filename (letters, numbers, underscores, dashes, and dots); any other characters are removed.
  • Converts all letters in the filename to lowercase to avoid issues with case-insensitive systems.
  • Applies its filename changes during the file upload process, affecting only files uploaded after the plugin is activated (not previously uploaded files).
  • Provides a WordPress filter hook (scf_friendly_filename) to allow additional post-processing of the sanitized filename after the plugin’s own transformations.

TRANSLATION BOUNDARY

Clean Filenames capabilities and translatable content are documented separately.

Official documentation describes the plugin functionality, but does not currently identify specific text shown to visitors that can be translated.

A feature is not considered translatable unless it includes text that users can read.
