- Indexes content into dedicated database tables per searchable public post type (e.g., posts/pages/custom post types/products), keeping indexes separate and not mixed in a single result list.
- Performs incremental index updates automatically when content is published, edited, unpublishing, trashed, restored, or deleted; manual indexing is primarily for the initial build or full rebuild.
- Provides instant (as-you-type) search results under the search box for front-end search, and also adds instant results to the admin post list as a shortcut to published content.
- Supports indexing selection via a settings page and allows developers to narrow/widen indexed post types using the `search_hero_indexed_post_types` filter.
- Uses no external service: the index lives in the site’s own database with no API key and no per-search external request cost.
- Offers command-line indexing/rebuild operations via `wp search-hero index` and supports rebuilding a specific section (e.g., `–section=product`).
