  • Optionally creates new WordPress user accounts on successful Shibboleth authentication when the user does not already exist (configurable via plugin behavior/constant).
  • Synchronizes user attributes from Shibboleth-provided attributes into WordPress user profile fields (e.g., username, first/last name, display name, nickname, email) each time the user logs in.
  • Automatically sets and can continually update WordPress user roles based on Shibboleth attributes (e.g., mapping eduPersonAffiliation/entitlement-like values to WordPress roles).
  • Supports controlling authentication behavior and related settings via wp-config.php constants, including disabling local WordPress authentication and configuring login/logout/password management URLs.
  • Can attempt to set required Apache `.htaccess` directives on activation to enforce Shibboleth authentication, with an option to prevent file modifications via a wp-config.php constant; provides a manual `.htaccess` snippet as fallback.
  • Provides extensibility via WordPress actions and filters (plugin exposes hooks that can be used by custom code to extend functionality).
