- Uses Iconify for icon search/discovery via a proxy REST endpoint on the WordPress server for server-to-server search and icon retrieval requests.
- Loads icon preview thumbnails in the editor via the browser (using the @iconify/react library), while embedding the selected SVG code directly into content so no third-party frontend assets are loaded on the live site.
- Sanitizes SVGs using strict allowlists in two passes: once in the browser when an icon is chosen and again on the server when the post is saved; removes elements that could execute code or load external resources.
- Restricts icon search functionality to logged-in users who can edit posts, so the icon search feature is not exposed to the public.
